When will they learn?

GameCube has been out for close to a month so far and has already released a bunch of games varing in maturity levels but the people writing the articles still say the exact same thing everytime. Nintendo's target audience is young kids. Yet again these writers need a wake-up call.

I think it was one of Nintendo's public relations people that said it best. Something along the lines of 'We frequently work with the magazine Maxim and I don't consider them kiddy at all' And if you have ever read the magazine you know, this magazine is definately not targeted towards young children. He went on to say that Nintendo doesn't target children, they try to target a variety of differant people so they release all differant times of games. Which is very true, they have games that target all audiences. From games like Pikmin to games like Eternal Darkness the Big N is making sure that it has great games no matter your age. And in the comming year mid-line games will continue to come out like Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet, Mario Sunshine (It's a tentative title don't worry) and the new risky Legend of Zelda.

Unlike Playstation 2 and X-Box, Nintendo isn't planning on taking on the internet for a few years but will most likely change their minds soon now that X-Box plans be on the internet within 6 months. Ironicly reuters today reported that Nintendo, X-Box and PS2 all have plans for modems but GameCube has no plans for a hardrive. What this report had to do with modems is beyond me, because GameCube, at least at the moment and not in the forseeable has no need at all for a hardrive. From what I can see the most accurate analysis of the game wars was like this PS2 will own 50% of the market, GameCube will own 30%-40% and X-Box 10%-20% this will be over the course of the next few years. I see this most likely as a late next year rating with Nintendo pulling over the top at about Christmas 2002. We will just have to wait and see.
