GameCube more quality but less game?

As I have looking more and more into the GameCube titles available already I ask myself, what is Nintendo trying to pull? They are flashing off their incredible graphics BUT in exchange you get short changed out of 50$ for a game that takes nearly no time to complete.

  • Luigi's Mansion - Great game, real fun and fantastic graphics. This 50$ game comes with about 6 hours of gameplay on the first time to beat. Saving grace - originality
  • Wave Race: Blue Storm - Great detail to characters and environments. Unfortunately it is possible to unlock all of its secrets in about 10 hours of gameplay. Saving grace - multiplayer
  • Pikmin - Fun, innovative, colorful game. 11 hours to beat for the first time. . . Saving grace - challenge mode

It is titles like these that make you wonder. Yes all of the above are great games graphically and gameplay wise but what about content. Hopefully Nintendo is taking more of a step like they have in Super Smash Bros. making it take a lot more time to get all of the secrets and challenges completed. Nintendo's next example will be the Legend of Zelda: GAMECUBE that was promised by Miyamoto to come out in the first half of 2002. Nintendo, as time goes on and the GCN release date gets farther and farther away, the titles take more and more time to beat hopefully they continue this trend with Legend of Zelda and Mario Sunshine. More on this as it comes up. . .
