Wario Land

INTRODUCTION:
Mario is back on the Virtual Boy. . . Er, Wario. Nintendo's own greedmiester makes a debut on the VB. What is he looking for? Treasure of course. . . .

FEATURES:

  • 1 Player
  • More than 10 levels
  • Many new and differant hats for Wario

    OVERALL GAMEPLAY:
Following the typical plaformer Wario has to get from the beginning to end. Not to difficult or strange right? Add in the fact that there is treasure, coins and keys in each level you will find that each of the enormous levels will keep you busy for a while! An new addition to the series in this game is the ability to play on differant levels, (front and back) taking advantage of the VB's ability to show depth. Wario has new hats in this game as well. There is big Wario, little Wario, bull Wario, Eagle Wario and Dragon Wario. If you get a Dragon hat and Eagle hat you get a special hat that gives you a mix of the two, very neat. This game is full of challenge and it will keep you playing. There are treasures hidden through out each of the levels and upon getting them all you unlock a challenge mode. Some treasures are fairly difficult to find it should keep you busy, but you have to find a key before you can leave as well so make sure you have it all before time runs out. You have the ability to back track if need be though . . . At the end of each level your progress is saved and you have the ability to play a minigame for either money or hearts. Nothing is lacking in the gameplay arena at all!

    GRAPHICS:
The graphics are great for your typical platformer. Once you add in the 3Dness that VB adds they are spectacular. It is amazing how you can jump back and forth between the front and the back of the level in certain places and all of the bosses, enemies and Wario himself were done magnificantly. The Wario on the airplane at the beginning is great!

    SOUND:
As expected a high quality musical score from Nintendo. Some of the tracks get repetitive but they are in positions where you shouldn't have to listen to them too long anyways.

    REPLAY VALUE:
There are a ton of treasures for you to find and once you get them there is a challenge mode with even more treasures. There is nothing lacking in the replay department. The biggest downfall of the game is that you have to go backwards through levels to get to a previous one. That is horrible especially when you lose a treasure at a Game Over.
