Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

INTRODUCTION:
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon is set in 1830 in the Austrian Empire. The game starts when Camilla, one of Dracula's minion, resurrects the vampire. Morris and his two apprentices try to stop his return but find themselves arriving too late. Dracula then imprisons Morris and cast Nathan and Hugh into a graveyard underneath the castle. As Nathan you must fight mummies, zombies, and skelators with your Hunter Whip, special items, and magic to stop Dracula once and for all.

FEATURES:

  • Choose between several sub-weapons, including throwing axes, daggers, and holy water.
  • Create over 80 unique spell effects.
  • 10 different summon attacks.
  • Detailed environments to explore.

    CHARACTERS:

  • Nathan Graves (player)
  • Hugh Baldwin
  • Morris Baldwin
  • Dracula
  • Camilla
  • OVERALL GAMEPLAY:
Castlevania: CotM stays with the traditional side scrolling format that has worked so well for Konami in the past. The game is easily to get into and play, yet, hard enough to give the more advance players a challenge. The game features enemy cards one can collect and combine with others to gain new abilities. The levels are long and have plenty of rooms to explore, and the controls are simple and easy to use. The graphics are good and the sound quality is excellent making this a must have for any Gameboy Advance owner.

    GRAPHICS:
The graphics of Circle of the Moon is up to par with Symphony of the Night on Playstation. Konami put time and effort adding detail to everything. The game truly shows the GameBoy Advances potential. The only flaw is that the graphics are dark. The darkness however, does not effect the overall gameplay of the game.

    SOUND:
The sound quality is exceptional to say the least. The music puts one in complete awe at the start up screen as an eerie music plays. The music fits the darkness of the game perfectly and is composed of chants and music from the Renaissance period. The sound effects should not be excluded though. Konami added the sound of footsteps, bats squeaking, and the whip cracking to make the sound quality no less than perfect.

    REPLAY VALUE:
The game entices the player with plenty of magic, having over a hundred different card combinations to try out, as well as, large levels to explore. The game also features new modes as a reward to gamers who have beaten the game giving the game a better replay value.
