Milia 2002: Europe Launch

Online Capabilities

David Gosen said the following today when asked about Nintendo of Europe's plan for online gaming:

"Nintendo of Europe is very excited about online technology and online gaming. However, the broadband technology isn't good yet, only 12 % of the European people have a broadband connection. The GameCube has been designed with flexibility in mind. On the back of the GameCube we have two ports: one for a broadband adapter and one for an analogue adapter. We have build flexibility into the GameCube. So when that eventuality arises we will be ready also to accommodate it. Nintendo would also like to know first if enough gamers are willing to pay the costs, like a monthly fee. When Nintendo sees people want online gaming, we will be happy to take the step."

Mario Sunshine

Are you worried that Mario Sunshine won't be spinning in your GameCube this year? Nintendo of Europe's David Gosen today revealed that Mario Sunshine will be released Quarter 4 in Europe. What does this mean for us on the other side of the pond? That means we will definately see Mario Sunshine this year like it has been said many many times by Nintendo. Now if we could only get a release date outta them, guess we will have to wait until E3 for that.

Launch Day

May 3rd was chosen as a lunch date to ensure enough Cubes and software for the launch. NOE is planning on spending 100 million Euros on GameCube's launch but specifics will not be named until closer to launch. 10 million pieces of software and a million Cubes are expected in Europe by the end of the year.
